Despite a complex macroeconomic backdrop, 2024 was a strong year for capital formation in alternative investments. Our latest research, in collaboration with Alternatives Watch, reveals that managers raised over $766 billion globally across private equity, credit, infrastructure, real estate, hedge funds and venture capital.
The findings highlight robust investor appetite and continued innovation across the alternative investment sector. Infrastructure fundraising saw a significant uptick, reaching $64 billion - a fourfold increase from the previous year. Private credit continued to scale, with both the number of funds and total capital raised increasing. And while private equity saw a small decline in fund count, it remained the largest asset class by capital raised, attracting $412 billion.
